I'm A Celebrity's Tulisa Contostavlos is looking incredibly fresh to say makeup is banned in the jungle. Here we reveal how she's sneakily got around the show's strict rules
I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! star Tulisa Contostavlos will take on her first Bushtucker Trial tonight.
The 36-year-old N-Dubz star - who has already proven herself to be rather good at maths in this year's series - will take on the Shock Around the Clock challenge, which will see her answer general knowledge questions while placed in a moving clock dial packed with creepy crawlies.
But eagle-eyed fans have all been asking how the Young singer stays looking so glam in the jungle. Despite the ITV show's strict ban on bringing in beauty products like foundation, lipstick and mascara, Tulisa appears to still be rocking a full face of makeup.
One fan wondered: "TULISA in' Celebrity Get Me out of Here' how does she keep her FULL makeup ON! AND PLUMPED UP LIPS? Nobody appears to wash, so I'm assuming it's applied daily or it's set not to move!"
Another asked: "I thought makeup was contraband?" A third questioned: "Does Tulisa get hair and makeup every morning I wonder #ImACeleb?" While a fourth said: I think Tulisa has more contraband aka a full makeup bag. She’s got a full face on like she’s going on a night out."
So has Tulisa really manage to smuggle a full makeup bag into the jungle or is there something else going on? Here's what we know...
What are the rules on taking makeup into the jungle?
I'm A Celebrity fans will know that beauty products and anything you would bring in a makeup bag are strictly banned in the jungle.
Former campmate Lisa Snowdon revealed the things that are allowed in are sunscreen, a generic body lotion, toothbrush and tea tree toothpaste and mosquito repellent. Deodorant, which was reportedly banned in season one, is also allowed now.
Lisa said women are allowed to shave in camp if they want to. She shared: "Yes, yes, yes. You can shave. You get a shaving stick and a razor, so you get the basics.”
Has anyone been caught smuggling beauty items in?
Some stars have tried to smuggle in items in the past. In 2021, Corrie star Simon Gregson - aka Steve McDonald - was caught trying to take a pot of Vaseline, along with three stock cubes, into camp. And it all got confiscated.
While Nicola McLean revealed she successfully used her bra to smuggle in waterproof mascara, concealer and an eyebrow pencil. She joked: "Let’s be honest, they’re weren’t gonna be able to find anything in there - I could probably take my whole makeup bag.”
How does Tulisa look like she's got makeup on?
The Mirror reported that the stars - including Tulisa, Coleen Rooney and Jane Moore - are using a clever tactic to get around ITV's makeup ban, as all look to have had semi-permanent, or 'tattoo' makeup, applied.
Before she headed into the jungle, Tulisa took to Instagram to reveal she had indeed gone down the semi-permanent makeup route. She told fans: "I tatted the lips to match the brows, couldn’t help myself! They are swollen but they will go down and the colour will tone down."
She also appears to be wearing a full set of eyelash extensions, which may look sparser as the competition continues, as they ordinarily need re-doing every two to three weeks.
I'm A Celeb viewers think Coleen has most likely had her eyebrows microbladed, a semi-permanent procedure to define eyebrows that can last 12 to 36 months before heading into camp. While Jane looks like she may have had semi-permanent eyeliner applied.
Are there any exemptions to the I'm A Celeb makeup ban?
Yes. Some celebs are allowed to bring makeup into the jungle, provided it is for medical reasons.
In 2017, Made In Chelsea star Georgia 'Toff' Toffolo explained she was given a medical exemption that allowed her to bring some base make-up into the jungle - as it was for the purpose of covering her acne.
Speaking in an interview afterwards, she revealed: "I honestly wouldn’t have been able to look any of my campmates in the eye if I didn’t have my makeup on. When producers told me it was banned I broke down in tears and said, 'I can’t do this'.
"I’ve been to the doctor so much over the years. It’s a medical problem and I’ve been on strong tablets for six months trying to get rid of them [acne spots]. Show bosses agreed that, because it was a medical problem, I was allowed to put foundation on once a day in the morning. Some people don’t understand how badly it affects my confidence and upsets me."
